Dalhousie Student Union Teaching Award given to Dr. Carolan McLarney

The Centre For Advanced Management Education is delighted to share the news that Dr. Carolan McLarney has been recognized with the Dalhousie Student Union (DSU) 2008 Award for Teaching Excellence (Faculty of Management division). Dr. McLarney is one of the most respected and best loved professors in the MBA (FS) program. She consistently receives rave reviews from both on-campus and distance students for her energy and enthusiasm, as well as for her ability to help students challenge their own assumptions and push themselves to think strategically.
Teacher on a roll

Dr. Paul Brown, a MPA (M) instructor, is the winner of the 2006 Pierre de Celles Award for excellence in teaching.

The award was presented in the presence of 400+ academics and senior public servants over lunch during the Annual Conference of the Institute of Public Administration of Canada (IPAC). This is a great honour for Paul and also for the School, the Faculty, the University and for Nova Scotia. The award citation recognized the high quality of his teaching not simply in the MPA, the MPA (M) and the Bachelor of Management programs, but also his vast contribution in training public servants at all three levels of government within Canada, and in Cuba and a number of countries in Eastern Europe.

Most recently, Dr. Brown has been involved in projects alternative service delivery, public-private partnerships. He has worked with Nova Scotia government departments and the automobile sector to investigate models for self regulation in the licensing of automobile dealers, and with the Nova Scotia government to investigate models of managed competition for ensuring quality and economy in government.
